Awards, prizes and bursaries

ESTA makes awards to encourage and promote CPD and the sharing of good practice and resources in Earth Sciences.
9800 pounds

in prizes, awards and bursaries to be awarded to members this year!

Each year conference attendees are invited to submit their foavourite photos of the weekend. These should be photos that show geologists getting up to what we do best: preferably with a hammer in one hand and a notebook in the other!

Judging is open to the whole membership after the conference closes and the winner receives a £20 gift voucher and their photo featured on ESTA conference literature next year - as well as it taking pride of place on the ESTA website for a year.

We all love a field trip. Now they can make us some money too. Send us your best fieldwork photo of this academic year along with an overview of the location and teaching materials that others would be able to use. If we publish yours as a resource for members we will send you a £40 gift voucher.

We are looking for photographs and field trip day outlines for GCSE and A Level trips specifically. Please email photographs and materials to the Secondary Coordinator, r.lawson@esta.ac.uk.

Please don't send use any photography featuring identifiable students under 18 where you don't already have written consent from parents to do so.

We love geology. And we love reading. Send us a book review of fewer than 200 words on any Earth Science themed book and when we publish your review we will send you a £10 book token to help pay for your next amazing read.

Need some inspiration? We have teamed up with Bookshop.org and there's no better place to find some geologically themed treasures. They act on behalf of independent local UK book shops, so if you pick a specific shop to support they will receive 30% of the price of your purchase, otherwise the commission is divided equally amongst all of the book shops in the network.

Here's a great selection to get your started https://uk.bookshop.org/search?keywords=geology
